Dead Body Found In Musconetcong River [UPDATED]

BREAKING NEWS: Morris County prosecutors say a body has been discovered along the edge of the Musconetcong River in Washington Township. The body was discovered at around 1 p.m. along part of the river south of Route 46. Chopper 12 is headed to the scene. (News12)

A dead body was pulled from the Musconetcong River behind the Shell gas station on Route 57 in Hackettstown around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Washington Township Police responded to the scene just after 11 a.m. when owners from Greenway Flowers reported what appeared to be a partially submerged human body midstream, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.
Police officers from Washington Township and Hackettstown observed a body that was wedged in a log jam, Niemynski said.
The Budd Lake Fire Company Water Rescue Team pulled the body from the water.
The body has not yet been identified and the incident is currently under investigation, Niemynski said.
Washington Township police officer Adam Feichter, Sgt. Jeffrey Almer, Det. Sgt. Chris Bratus, and Det. Thomas Felleni assisted at the scene.
Washington Township Police, Hackettstown Police, the Budd Lake Fire Department, and Long Valley Fire Department all responded to the scene.
