HBID’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade to be held on March 11

The Hackettstown BID announces their plans for their 4th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for March 11, 2012 at 3:30PM. The BID is very happy to announce this year’s Grand Marshall is Mr. Kevin O’Neill, Kevin is a life long resident of Hackettstown with his family heritage tracing back to Bantry, Ireland on the southern coast.

Mr. O’Neill’s Family immigrated to America during the great potato famine in the mid-1800′s. “We are very pleased to have Mr. O’Neill as the Grand Marshall this year, he is a great choice for our 4th annual celebration”. He and his family have been very involved with Hackettstown over the years and this a great way to acknowledge them” states Jim Sheldon, Executive Director Hackettstown Business Improvement District.

This year’s parade route will begin at the intersections of Washington Street and Grand Avenue marching towards Main Street making a right handed turn eastwards towards Mountain Avenue (AKA State Hwy 182) the route continues down Mountain Avenue until the gates of the Union Cemetery across from Quick Chek.

This year’s parade will feature Irish musical bands such as, Rory O’Moore Pipes and Drums, Morris County Police Pipes and Drums, Rampant Lion Pipe Band, St. Ann’s of Hampton Pipes & Drums. In addition, both the Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeer’s Corps’ will be performing at the parade many other groups will be participating. Performing again this year is the “Aqua String Band” of Philadelphia, which is always a crowd favorite.
