On Monday, Nov. 27th, Morning mike had the opportunity to catch up with Bob Suker, a member of the Hackettstown Elks Lodge #2331, who shared information on some of their on-going community projects. Recently, the Elks had a very successful day bagging groceries at the Shop Rite store on Route 31 south of Washington. Greeting shoppers and assisting to bag groceries, donations were raised to support homeless veterans and special needs children during the holiday season.
Upcoming events include a Breakfast With Santa on Sunday, Dec. 10th, a “Night Of Comedy” on Wednesday, Dec. 13th, and another “Bag For Charity” at the Washington Shop Rite on Saturday, Dec. 16th. The Hackettstown Elks Lodge #2331 is located at 210 Mountain Ave., behind McDonald’s.
Bob has been an Elk for over 30 years and noted that Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building. Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meeting the needs of today’s veterans, and improving the quality of life.
