UPDATE: List of Local Shelters and Warming Stations as of 11/03

The Trinity Church Main Building (213 Main St) will be opening at 5:00PM tonight (11/3/12) for an overnight shelter. Please bring your own pillows, blankets, food, medicines, books, games or sleeping bags. People can also charge their cell phones, computers, etc. No pets will be allowed. People are to park in the back of the church and use the side entrance
Below you’ll find a complete list of shelters as of 11/02 taking in residents of their respective towns.
HACKETTSTOWN –
- The Moose Lodge on Main Street in Hackettstown is open, providing heat and cell phone charging
- Hackettstown Library is open today until 9pm. Internet and WIFI is available.
- Miller Street Fire House in Hackettstown has potable water, residents must bring their own container.
- St. James Episcopal Church at the corner of Moore and Washington Streets in Hackettstown is open from 9am to 6pm today. The Church is offering showers, WIFI, a charging station and hot soup for dinner from 4 to 6pm.
- Reeves Gymnasium Lobby at Centenary College will be open for the next two days from 10:00am – 6:00pm as a charging station for electronic devices and as a warming station. It is also open as a showering facility to HACKETTSTOWN RESIDENTS ONLY. Please park at the Lackland Center parking lot off Grand Ave. to access the gym.
- The Trinity Church will be opening a shelter at 5 pm tonight in their Star Hall, accessible from Maple Ave or Moore Street, open to anyone who is seeking a place to sleep. The Church does ask for those coming by to bring bedding and any food, as the Church can only provide snacks such as bagels and granola bars. No pets allowed.
- The Drakestown Church on 6 Church Rd is offering a warm place to stop in or to stay over. The Church has heat and power to charge electronics, coffee, food and ovens. For anyone needing to stay overnight, please bring an air mattress and bedding.
- Washington Township, Morris County Officials Have Opened Two Warming Centers In The Township. One Open 24/7 At The Schooley’s Mountain Fire Department On Schooley’s Mountian Road And The second at the Fairmount Fire House On Parker Road Open Until 6 Tonight. There is potable water at both locations. If you do decide to sleep over at the Schooley’s Mountain Fire Department it’s suggested you bring blankets, pillows, medications in original bottles, dry food supplies. There is no refrigeration or cooking. Also bring books, games, and/or computer to keep yourself occupied.
- There Is Also Potable Water Available At The Washington Township, Morris County Police Department Located At 1 East Springtown Road And Also At The Municipal Utility At 43 East Mill Road.
- Warren County Vo Tech will be open as an overnight shelter. Cots, food and showers will be available through the Red Cross. Be sure to contact the Red Cross or stop by to register for overnight stays. Those who need to just warm up or recharge electronics are welcome.
- The Washington Township Municipal Building on Rt 31 will be open from l0am – 2pm for access to electricity, bathrooms and water Thursday, Nov 1st and Friday, Nov 2nd.
- The Senior Center is open until 11PM daily as a warming center. Restrooms, coffee and tea, and recharging all available.
- Potable water is available behind the Senior Center, bring jugs or containers and take as much as needed.
- Mountain Top Church on 6 Naughright Rd is offering a warming station from 9 to 7 daily.
- Flanders Fire House is providing showers from 1-4 and 6-8.
- Mt. Olive officials are looking to make hot showers available at the High School for confirmation later today.
INDEPENDENCE–
- The Firehouse on Cemetery Road is open as a warming center to charge cellphones or grab a cup of coffee. Also, the Firehouse is offering a Spaghetti Dinner from 5-8pm for Independence residents.
- The Belvidere Municipal Building at 691 Water Street will be available as a warming and charging station. Access to restrooms, but no showers or food, but vistors are welcome to bring their own food. The Municipal Building will be open until 6:30 Friday night. No pets.
- Oxford Central School on Kent Street will be open on Friday November 2nd from 9am to noon for residents as a warming station. The school will have a water filling station as well as an area to charge electronics.
- North Warren Regional High School is welcoming those who need to be refreshed to use the shower facilities until 6pm tonight.
- The Masonic Lodge is open as a warming center until 10pm.
WARMING STATIONS AND SHELTERS IN MORRIS COUNTy, provided by Morris County Public Information
Warming and charging stations:
• Boonton town: Town Hall, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Boonton Township:Municipal Building, 155 Powerville Road, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Chatham Borough: Chatham Club on Southern Boulevard, Chatham Fire Department on Fire House Plaza, and Library of the Chathams on Main Street.
• Chatham Township: The Chatham Club is now open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is limited to non-members for charging station and Wi-Fi access. Please be considerate of Chatham Club members while using the facility. The Chatham Library is an alternate facility for a charging station during their nomal operating hours.
• Chester Borough: Town hall at 50 North Rd has power and is open as a warming center. Residents are welcome to come warm up, recharge cell phones or other electronic devices, utilize the kitchen in the break room, and socialize anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No overnight stays are permitted at this facility.
• Denville: St Francis Health Resort, 122 Diamond Spring Road. This will be a place to warm, have coffee ad charge your cell phone. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Dover: Dover High School is open as a charging/warming station for residents only.
• Harding: The municipal building on Blue Mill Road is now operating on emergency generator power and will remain open during normal business hours. Christ-the-King Church is open as a warming center and cell-phone recharging center 24 hours a day.
• Jefferson:The senior center and Lake Hopatcong Fire Company No. 2 firehouse are available for warming and charging 24 hours a day.
• Kinnelon: Pearl Miller School is available for warming and charging 24 hours a day.
• Lincoln Park: The Community Meeting Room in Borough Hall is available for warming and charging 24 hours a day. Please bring extension cords or power strips with multiple receptacles to help others charge at the same time.
• Long Hill: Town Hall is open for warming and charging 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays; and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Mendham Township: There is a 24/7 warming center and the Brookside Fire Department, 3 Cherry Lane. Coffee, food and cots are available, however, the center was full Wednesday night.
• Mine Hill: The Civic Center is available for resident shelter, warming and charging, overnight.
• Morris Plains: A warming and electronics recharging center is set up at Community Center in Community Park, open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until power has been restored throughout the borough.
• Morris Township: Fire Houses are open with access to outlets. A warming/electronics recharging center has been established at the Community Center in Community Park, which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until power has been restored throughout the borough.
• Morristown: The Senior Center at Town Hall, 200 South Street, has a charging center.
• Mount Arlington: The Civic Center is available for warming and charging 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Mount Olive: The Mount Olive Senior Center was potable water and can be used for warming and charing from noon to 11 p.m.
• Randolph: Town hall is open until 8 p.m. for recharging cell phones, computers and other electronic devices. Bottled water is available. Town Hall will reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday.
The Public Works Center on Sussex Turnpike is open until 8 p.m. and will reopen Thursday at 8 a.m. Bottled water is available).
The Ironia Firehouse on Dover Chester Road is open until 8 p.m.
The Millbrook Fire House on Route 10 West is open until 8 p.m.
• Riverdale: The Community Center is available for warming and charging until 10 p.m.
• Rockaway Borough: Please call ahead at the following locations for warming/charging stations:
Rockaway Borough Free Public Library at 82 East Main Street, 973-627-5709, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesay; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rockaway Assembly of God Church, 113 East Main St., 973-627-0239, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Rockaway Township: Police Headquarters is available for warming and charging 24 hours a day. The library is available for warming and charging during normal business hours.
• Roxbury: Town Hall, 72 Eyland, and the library on Main Street are available as warming and charging stations during normal business hours. The fire houses in Succasunna, Berkshire valley and on Shippenport Road in Landing are open as hygiene centers providing bathroom facilities and the filling of potable water containers.
Emergency shelters
• Denville: Located at Morris Knolls High School in Denville. Open as a shelter for pets and their owners. The animal must have a crate, at least three days food, water and medications, and the owner must stay with the animal. It was inaccessible earlier today due to hazardous road conditions.
• Dover: Located at Dover High School, 100 Grace Street.
• East Hanover: East Hanover Middle School, for residents only.
A temporary shelter is at the recreation center at Lurker Park. No pets allowed. Cots will be available for sleeping. This location does not have shower facilities.
• Jefferson: Residents can use Hopatcong High School.
• Kinnelon: Kinnelon Shelter has been moved to Pearl R. Miller Middle School. Please enter directly into the cafeteria.
• Kinnelon: Kiel School has been opened as a shelter for phone charging, warming, hot beverages, sanitary and sleeping facilities. Enter around back through glass doors. Donations of K cups, air mattresses and sleeping bags would be helpful at Kiel school.
• Lincoln Park: Community room will remain open for cell phone charging over night tonight. Looking for cords with multiple receptacles. Please bring.
• Madison: Located at the Madison Ambulance Building across from Public Safety Building. 25 Beds, food and comfort kits from Red Cross. No animals allowed. The civic center is also open as a shelter. Borough Hall is open as a warming and charging center.
• Mendham Borough: Sisters of Christian Charity
• Mendham Township: There is a 24/7 warming center and the Brookside Fire Department, 3 Cherry Lane. Coffee, food and cots are available, however, the center was full Wednesday night.
• Mine Hill: The Civic Center is available for resident shelter, warming and charging, overnight.
