Jersey Central Power & Light crews continue to respond to widely scattered power outages across the company’s 13 county service area as a result of today’s(4/3/16) severe winds.
As of early this afternoon, 40,000 customers are affected, according to JCP&L.
JCP&L reporting 1,708 customers in Sussex County, 2,860 customers in Warren County, 13,855 customers in Morris County and 3,419 customers in Hunterdon County are without power.
“We are experiencing power outages due to severe weather and are assessing damage. We will provide estimated restoration times when they are available,” according to JCP&L.
JCP&L activated its storm plan yesterday and brought additional hazard responders, line and tree crews in today to assist with restoration effort, according to a JCP&L statement.
Customers are reminded to immediately report any downed wires to the company, or their local police and fire department. Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should also be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
