“If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again” – Man Arrested Twice In The Same Day For Shoplifting

Branchville Boro, NJ (Sussex County) – Kevin Heater, 29, of Branchville Boro, New Jersey was arrested twice in the same day for shoplifting, State Police said.

On Tuesday April 19, at 12:30 p.m. State Police were called to George’s Wine and Spirits after a theft was reported, according to State Police.

An employee noticed a man walk out of the store after hiding a bottle of liquor in his sweatshirt. The employee confronted the man in the parking lot and was able to grab the bottle.

Troopers arrived and arrested Heater. He was then charged with shoplifting, public intoxication and released pending a future court date.

Then at 5:20 p.m., State Police were called to Family Drug Store Pharmacy on a shoplifting complaint. An employee told police the man came into the store and stole seven bottles of mouthwash.

State Police detectives identified the suspect as Heater. He was located at his home and again taken into custody where he was charged with shoplifting, disorderly conduct and released pending for a future court.

“So, the moral of this story is if at first you don’t succeed while committing a crime, quit while you’re ahead,” State Police said in a press release.
