New Jersey Special Olympics Torch Run charges through Warren County (PHOTOS)

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – Police Officers from Hackettstown, Mansfield Twp and Washington Twp (Morris County) came together at Mars, Incorporated on High St in Hackettstown to start one of two routes in Warren County for the NJ Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Another route started in Greenwich Twp and both groups met at Route 31 and Route 57 in Washington Twp.

Hackettstown Middle School students and staff lined Main St to cheer on the runners.

The annual Torch Run on Friday, benefiting the Special Olympics New Jersey Summer Games, involved over 3,000 officers running separate routes around the state.

Athletes will compete in the summer games, which include aquatics, bocce, gymnastics, powerlifting, softball and tennis competition.The games begin Friday and last the weekend at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
