Driver charged with death by auto in fatal crash in Dover

DOVER, NJ (Morris County) – A Dover man is facing criminal charges stemming from a motor vehicle crash that occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Public Safety Director Daniel DeGroot of the Dover Police Department said.

Javier Santos Archaga, 36, has been charged with one count of second-degree death by auto, one count of third-degree assault by auto and two counts of fourth-degree assault by auto.

It is alleged that Santos Archaga was the driver of a motor vehicle involved in a single vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Route 15 and Route 46 in Dover, Knapp said.

The subsequent investigation revealed that in addition to Santos Archaga, there were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Knapp said.

One of the passengers has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash and the remaining passengers sustained varying degrees of injury, Knapp said.

Santos Archaga was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending his first appearance, which is scheduled for Monday, Knapp said.
