Police rescue hiker in Long Valley

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A hiker who became strained had to be rescued by Washington Township police on Tuesday.

Sgt. Michael Hade and Sgt. James Burns responded to a portion of Patriots Path located behind Ort’s Farm on Bartley Road for an elderly male hiker who was strained, police said.

Police then utilized one of the departments new sport utility vehicles to reach the victim who was roughly a half mile into the woods, police said.

The victim was then transported out of the woods safely, police said.
