Unlicensed taxi driver picks up, takes wrong child to school

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – An unlicensed taxi driver allegedly picked up the wrong child and took that child to Willow Grove Elementary School last week.

On Nov. 21, at 8:02 a.m., town police responded to Willow Grove School, located at 601 Willow Grove St, in reference to a child that was picked up by an unknown male and dropped off at the school.

Through a police investigation it was determined that Jaime Ramirez-Gonzalez, 41, of Dover, NJ was operating a vehicle for Metro Car Service and picked up a child at a residence, police said.

That child was supposed to have been picked up by a friend and a neighboring child was actually the one to be picked up by a taxi, police said.

Ramirez-Gonzalez was charged with being an unlicensed taxi driver.

Rojas, 36, of Hackettstown, NJ, owner of Metro Car Service, was charged with allowing unlicensed taxi driver, unlicensed taxi, not having vehicle inspected and not having taxi insurance.

Both were released pending a court appearance.
