Unruly client stabs staff member with pen

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A client at a behavioral health treatment facility allegedly stabbed a staff member numerous times with a pen Wednesday morning.

At 10:04 a.m., township police were dispatched to a reported assault at Capital Care, located on Waterloo Road, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a client of Capitol Care had become unruly and was being restrained by staff on scene, police said.

During this struggle, the accused removed a pen from one of the staff members pockets and inflicted numerous superficial stab wounds to a staff member, police said.

Statements were collected and after a brief investigation, the accused was placed under arrest, police said.

The suspect was charged with third degree aggravated assault.
