2 charged with animal cruelty in Mansfield Twp.

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Two people have been charged with animal cruelty after an emaciated pit bull mix was found inside an apartment Saturday evening.

Gregory V. Clint, 22, and Skylar M. Hildebrandt, 19, were both charged with abandonment of a domestic animal (animal cruelty). Clint was also charged with having an unlicensed dog.

At 7:09 p.m. officers responded to a residence to return found property. After receiving no response at the apartment and speaking with neighbors, the officers conducted a welfare check, police said.

While conducting a check of the apartment, officers found an emaciated pit bull mix. The apartment was allegedly in disarray with a strong odor of garbage and feces was located all over the apartment, police said.

Animal control responded and transported the dog for treatment, police said.

The dog’s owners, Clint and Hildebrandt, were located the next day and were staying at another location, police said.

Both were released pending a court appearance.
