READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Three North Carolina residents are facing charges after police find a loaded handgun and marijuana during a traffic stop Monday evening.
Christopher Holliday, of High Point, NC was charged with possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and failure to maintain lane.
Jordan Brooks and Alexis Basford both of Greenboro, NC were each charged with possession of under fifty grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At around 7:57 p.m., an officer stopped Holliday’s vehicle, which was occupied by Brooks and Basford, at the intersection of Route 22 west and Route 523 for allegedly swerving, police said.
During the traffic stop, the officer allegedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, police said.
A search of the vehicle revealed raw marijuana, packaging material, drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun, police said.
Holiday was lodged at the Somerset County Jail. Brooks and Basford were released pending a future court appearance.
