7 arrested, 5 for DWI at Washington Twp. checkpoint

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Five people were arrested for driving while intoxicated and two were arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance at DWI checkpoint last Friday night.

 

On September 14 the Washington Township Police Department in conjunction with the Morris County Prosecutors Office conducted a DWI checkpoint on Route 46 from 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

 

At the conclusion of the checkpoint, a total of 540 vehicles were stopped.

 

DWI checkpoints are funded by grants received by the Prosecutor’s Office from the State Division of Highway Traffic Safety to establish checkpoints in cooperation with municipal police departments throughout Morris County.

The Prosecutor’s Office has set up sobriety checks in the past two years in Chester, Denville, Jefferson, Mount Olive, Parsippany, Randolph, Roxbury, and previously in Washington Township.

Further DWI checkpoint dates and locations will be announced in the future.
