BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Blairstown Township police are welcoming a furry new member to the ranks.

The department announced Monday that Castor, a Belgian Malinois, and his new handler Officer Herzer are currently in training.

Officer Herzer and Castor will be trained in search and rescue, narcotics detection, and patrol.

Blairstown Township Police thanked the anonymous donor who helped make this program happen. The police department also thanked the Blairstown Animal Mansion for donating vet services for life and Tickners, located in Hackettstown, for donating dog food for life.

“We look forward to Castor meeting the public and making a positive impact on the community,” police said.
