Blairstown Twp. police reports scammer posing as priest

BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Blairstown Township police are warning residents about a scam in which the criminal is posing as a local priest in a text message.

According to police, a woman reported that a local number texted her personal phone and acted as Fr. Ronald L. Jandernoa from St Jude’s Church, located in Blairstown Township.

The person told her to get iTunes gift cards for patients battling cancer but he couldn’t get them himself and said he’d reimburse her, police said.

The person wanted 3 $100 iTunes gift cards and the PIN number that was attached to the back of them, police said.

Police also stated that St Jude’s is running a legit fundraiser with gift cards for their Tricky Tray.
