Driver cited after dump truck overturns on I-80 in Warren County

HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A dump truck driver was cited after his vehicle, which was carrying gravel, overturned on Interstate 80 in Hope Township Monday afternoon, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez.

Juan Suarez, 45, of Newark was charged with unsafe lane change and careless driving.

The crash happened westbound at mile marker 12.2 at 1:35 p.m., Goez said.

According to Goez, Suarez was travelling westbound when for an unknown reason the dump truck overturned in the right lane. The truck is registered to DSM Trucking from Belleville, Gorez said.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash, Goez said.

Suarez sustained minor non-life threatening injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

The right lane was closed while crews cleaned up a fuel spill, which was contained to the roadway, Goez said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
