Fire destroys maintenance shed at country club in Andover Twp. (PHOTOS)

ANDOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A maintenance shed was destroyed in a fire at the Newton Country Club in Andover Township Wednesday evening.

At 9:35 p.m., township police responded to a report of a structure fire in the area of the Newton Country Club Golf Course near the Drake Manor section of Andover Township, police said.

When police arrived, they located an approximately 30’ x 50’ maintenance shed fully engulfed, police said.

Andover Township Fire Department and Newton Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire, police said.

The maintenance shed contained several pieces of lawn maintenance equipment which were destroyed by the fire, police said.

“The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature at this time and the investigation is continuing,” police said.

The Sussex County Fire Marshal and Lakeland Emergency Squad assisted at the scene.
