Firefighters battle 2-alarm fire at restaurant in Dover

DOVER, NJ (Morris County) – Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Dover, according to Dover Public Safety Director Daniel DeGroot.

At 5:26 a.m., the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire at the Table 42 restaurant, located at 40-42 North Sussex St, DeGroot said.

The first arriving firefighters found smoke coming from the awning above the front door, DeGroot said.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no extension of the fire into the building was found, DeGroot said.

The building suffered minor water and smoke damage. There is no time frame for when the business will reopen, DeGroot said.

No residents in the apartment above the restaurant were displaced and no injuries were reported, DeGroot said.

The fire is currently under investigation but does not appear suspicious, DeGroot said.
