Hackettstown High School’s Alex Carida, Joe Andes win District 9 wrestling titles

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Hackettstown High School seniors Alex Carida and Joe Andes claimed District 9 wrestling titles Saturday at Phillipsburg High School.

Alex Carida defeated Alex Winant of Mendham High School, 14-5, at 145 pounds.

This is Carida’s second District 9 championship and his record now is at 133.

Joe Andes defeated Xavier Gulley of Bloomfield High School in a 22 second pin at 285 pounds. This is his first district championship.

Hackettstown sophomore Zeb Burke (160), senior Shawn Burke (170), sophomore Alejandro Castro (182) and junior Daniel Olson (220) finished third Saturday and will wrestle in in the region 3 tournament on Wednesday.

Carida and Andes will wrestle on Friday.
