Hackettstown man accused of stealing trumpet found in municipal court

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown man accused of stealing a trumpet was found by police in municipal court.

Matthew Riboldi, 34, was charged with theft by unlawful taking.

On Wednesday at around 9:38 a.m., town police responded to the Hackettstown Public Library, located at 110 Church St, for a report of a stolen trumpet, valued at $100.00, police said.

Through a police investigation, it was determined that the victim left the trumpet at the library on Tuesday and returned on Wednesday to retrieve the item, police said.

A review of surveillance video showed Riboldi allegedly take the trumpet and leave the library, police said.

Police located Riboldi in the Hackettstown Municipal Courtroom where he was there for a court appearance on a separate charge.

Riboldi was released pending a court appearance.

The trumpet was recovered and returned to the owner.
