Hackettstown man charged with driving under influence of marijuana, cops say

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A Hackettstown man is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence of marijuana following a traffic stop Wednesday morning in Mendham Borough, police said.

Robert Smith Jr., 47, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of marijuana, possession of two hypodermic needles, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and expired inspection.

At 8:08 a.m, a township officer initiated a traffic stop with Smith’s vehicle on West Main Street for allegedly having an expired inspection since March of 2018, police said.

Smith was released pending a mandatory court appearance.
