MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Hackettstown woman is facing charges after she allegedly shoplifted from Walmart and possessed drug paraphernalia.
Kathleen D. Kanane, 38, was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On June 1 at 2:15 p.m., township police responded to Walmart to speak to loss prevention regarding a shoplifter who was in their custody, police said.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Kanane entered Walmart, retrieved several items throughout the store and then tried to return them for store credit, police said.
When employees would not allow her to return the items, she took the otems out to her vehicle, police said.
Kanane then re-entered the store and collected merchandise valued over $1,500. She tried to exit the store without paying for the merchandise and loss prevention detained her for police, police said.
A search of her vehicle by police located drug paraphernalia, and an additional $300 worth of Walmart merchandise. The stolen items were returned to Walmart, police said.
Kanane was lodged in Morris County Correctional Facility.
