Man charged for inappropriately touching woman inside East Hanover store

EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Livingston man has been charged with allegedly grabbing a woman’s buttocks while she was shopping at an East Hanover business, according to East Hanover Township Police Chief Christopher Cannizzo.

Alan Knight, 37, was charged Thursday with criminal sexual contact.

On September 20 at around 6:30 p.m., a 20-year-old female victim was allegedly groped on her buttocks by Knight as she was shopping at Michaels Arts and Crafts store located in the Castle Ridge Shopping Center at 410 Route 10.

Knight’s arrest occurred after a surveillance photo was released on Tuesday and by late Wednesday night a tip was received revealing his identity.

“Also it is believed that after shaving his head and beard to avoid being recognized, he was going to leave New Jersey, however the rapid assistance of public prevented this from happening again,” Cannizzo said.

Knight is lodged in the Morris County jail.
