NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Franklin man is facing drug and motor vehicle charges following a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.
Michael Tizzano, 29, was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, failure to keep right, careless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
Newton Police Department received an initial report at 1:55 p.m. of a vehicle within the Rite Aid parking lot on Spring Street with an unknown issue with the driver, police said.
Shortly thereafter, police then received a second report of the vehicle leaving the Rite Aid and driving erratically on Trinity Street, police said.
Police located and stopped the vehicle in the area of Water and Hamilton Streets. Tizzano allegedly exhibited physical signs of impairment, police said.
As a result, Tizzano was taken into custody. A search incident to arrest resulted in nine wax folds containing a powdery substance suspected of being heroin being found in his wallet, police said.
Tizzano was lodged in the Sussex County Jail.
