Newton woman sentenced in Byram Twp. burglary

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to burglary, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Briana Sickel, 31, of Newton, was sentenced by the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on August 31.


On February 9, Sickel burglarized a home on Woods Drive in Byram Township and stole $3,400.


Sickel was sentenced to a term of probation to last until restitution is paid in full, no contact with victim or premises, an apology letter to the victim through probation within thirty days of sentencing, restitution in the amount of $3,400.00 minus $250.00 paid the day of sentencing, and additional fines.


Sickel pleaded guilty on July 16, to one count of third-degree burglary.
