Police find driver of stolen vehicle in bathroom stall

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Lodi man who was driving a stolen vehicle is facing multiple charges after police found him in a Walgreens bathroom Monday night.

Omer Bursal was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, possession of under fifty grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open alcoholic containers in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

At around 10:15 p.m., township police were advised by Clifton Police that a vehicle stolen from their town was possibly in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot, located on Route 22 West, according to a GPS, police said.

Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot, which is adjacent to the Wells Fargo, police said.

The officers then checked the security footage from the Walgreens and were able to observe Bursal allegedly exit the vehicle, enter the store and go into the bathroom, police said.

Officers located Bursal in a bathroom stall and he refused to comply with officers orders to exit the stall, police said.

Officers entered the stall and attempted to take Bursal into custody, at which point he began to resist arrest and the officers were finally able to take him into custody, police said.

Officers search the stolen vehicle for evidence and located under fifty grams of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and open containers of alcoholic beverages.

Bursal was lodged at the Somerset County Jail to await bail and a future court appearance.
