Police: Intoxicated Mansfield Twp. man crashes car, yells not to call police

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Mansfield Township man was charged with DWI  Sunday evening after he allegedly crashed his car and then began to yell not to call police because he had been drinking, police said.

Palak P. Patel, 25, was charged with reckless driving and DWI.

At 10:36 p.m. township police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 57 in the area of River Court, police said.

A vehicle had allegedly ran off the road, struck several mailboxes and a guardrail prior to stopping with the front end of the vehicle in the Musconetcong River, police said.

Witnesses allegedly advised police that Patel had exited the vehicle and began running around yelling not to call the police because he had been drinking. He was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested, police said.

Patel was released to a responsible adult pending a court appearance.
