Police investigating several car burglaries in Newton

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County)Newton Police are investigating a recent rash of car burglaries.

According to police, the burglaries occurred during the overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. They happened in the area of Madison Street, Halsted Street, Lawnwood Avenue, Spring Street and Main Street.

Some of the vehicles were unlocked, police said.

Various items were taken including cash, sunglasses, and credit cards, police said.

Police are reminding residents to remain vigilant, lock their car doors, remove valuable items or keep them out of sight and report any suspicious persons or activity observed.
