Suspected drunk driver crashes into Hackettstown Fish Hatchery pond, police say (PHOTOS)

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Morris County woman is facing charges including driving while intoxicated after crashing into a pond Monday morning.

Michelle Clarke, 42, of Washington Twp. was charged with driving while intoxicated and unauthorized vehicle in park area.

At around 2:05 a.m., town police responded to Alumni Field, located at 140 Willow Grove St, in reference to a suspicious vehicle, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, the officers observed a vehicle submerged in a pond and Clarke was sitting on the trunk flagging down the officer. The officer then assisted Clarke off the trunk, police said.

While the officer was talking to Clarke, the officer allegedly detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Clarke was released pending a court appearance.
