UPDATE: Victim’s name released in Tewksbury Twp. fatal pedestrian crash

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Tewksbury Township resident was killed after she was struck by a vehicle Friday night police said.

At around 7:45 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Old Turnpike Road (Route 517) in the area of the Old Turnpike School. 

When officers arrived on scene, Alexandra Rowan, 82, was found to be suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to the Morristown Medical Center and later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a north bound vehicle driven by Richard Petillo, 71, of Long Valley struck Rowan, police said.

Petillo remained on scene and the cooperated with the investigating officers, police said.

The investigation continues and no charges have been filed at
this time.

“The Tewksbury Township Police wish to express our condolences to the family and friends of the pedestrian,” police said.

Assisting at the scene was the Tewksbury Rescue Squad, Hunterdon Medical Center Paramedics, Fairmount and Oldwick Fire Companies.
