Water from cracked fish tank extinguishes fire

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – An early morning fire was reportedly extinguished by a cracked fish tank.

At around 5:11 a.m., town police, fire and rescue responded to a residence on the 100 block of Lafayette St for a reported structure fire with entrapment, police said.

When officers arrived on scene, the officers observed a heavy smoke condition and all occupants had exited the residence, police said.

Through a police investigation it was determined that a fish tank motor caught fire and spread to the adjunct wall, police said.

As a result of the fire, the fish tank cracked and extinguished the fire, police said.

There were no injuries reported, police said.
