Woman gets probation for stabbing boyfriend

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Newton woman was sentenced after pleading guilty to simple assault, the prosecutor’s office said.

Molly Perez, 21, was sentenced by the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 23.

On December 11, 2017, Perez was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. After an altercation with her boyfriend, Perez stabbed him in the back with a kitchen knife.

Perez pled guilty on January 29, 2018 to one count of disorderly persons offense of simple assault.

Perez was sentenced to eighteen months of probation, ordered to pay mandatory fines and fees also received three days jail credit.
