Woman injured after being struck by vehicle in Newton

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A 50-year-old Hamburg resident was injured and taken to the hospital Friday after being struck by a vehicle.

At 12:33 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Spring Street and Madison Street, police said.

When police arrived, they found Michele Krasnomowitz sitting near the marked crosswalk on Madison Street being assisted by witnesses, police said.

Investigating Officers determined that Matthew Miglin, 53, of Hampton Township was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado west on Spring Street when he abruptly made a left turn onto Madison Street and struck Krasnomowitz, who was in the crosswalk, knocking her to the ground, police said.

Witnesses told police they observed Krasnomowitz in the crosswalk walking east when she was struck by the Miglin, police said.

Krasnomowitz suffered a head injury and was transported by Newton First Aid Squad to the Newton Medical Center for treatment.

Miglin was issued a summons for failure to observe a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
