Woman pleads guilty to assault by auto, DWI

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman has entered a guilty plea to assault by auto and driving while intoxicated, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Rachel Pier, 39, of Sussex pled guilty to fourth-degree assault by auto and driving while intoxicated (second offense) before the Honorable William J. McGovern III, J.S.C., at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on August 20.

On October 20, 2017, Pier allegedly caused a motor vehicle accident in Vernon Township.  In pleading guilty, Pier admitted to driving a vehicle recklessly while intoxicated (second offense) and to injuring an individual.

Sentencing is presently anticipated for October 5, 2018.
