LEBANON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Four people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash Monday evening in Lebanon Township, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.

The multi-vehicle accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. south of the Route 31 and Cregar Road intersection, Kearns said.

The accident involved five vehicles, which included a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer was heading southbound on Route 31 near Cregar Rd when it struck two vehicles. The tractor trailer flipped on its side and continued across the northbound lane striking two additional vehicles, Kearns said.

Two victims were flown to Morristown Medical Center and two victims were transported by ambulance to Hunterdon Medical Center for treatment, Kearns said.

The roadway was shut down until approximately midnight while crews worked to clear the vehicles and debris from the roadway, Kearns said.

Lebanon Township Police Department, Clinton Township Police Department, Lebanon Township Fire Department, High Bridge Fire Department, High Bridge Rescue Squad, Annandale Fire Department, Clinton First Aid and Rescue, and Hunterdon Medical Center MICU assisted at the scene.

Personnel from Central Jersey Power and Light responded to repair damage to a power line.

“I would like to thank all the first responders for their quick response to the accident scene. We are always grateful to the brave men and women volunteers that serve our communities and keep us safe,” Kearns said.
