ROCKAWAY BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – An additional charge has been filed against a Rockaway Township woman in connection with a fatal drug overdose that occurred last year in Rockaway Borough, according to Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp.
Natalia E. Zyga, 30, was additionally charged with first-degree strict liability for drug-induced death. She was previously charged on Dec. 3, 2018 with other drug-related offenses.
On Nov. 23, 2018, law enforcement responded to a report of a female who was unconscious and not breathing. Sasha Truesdale was pronounced deceased at the scene and it was revealed that she was the victim of a fatal drug overdose, Knapp said.
Through a subsequent police investigation, it is alleged that Zyga distributed heroin and fentanyl to Truesdale in Rockaway Borough on Nov. 23. It is further alleged that the ingestion of the heroin and fentanyl distributed by Zyga to Truesdale resulted in Truesdale’s death, Knapp said.
The crime is punishable by up to twenty years in New Jersey state prison and is subject to the eighty-five percent parole ineligibility requirements of the no early release act.
Zyga was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings.
