Driver charged after he allegedly ran over man, leaves scene (PHOTOS)

UPDATE: Man run over by car, along with 1 other, now charged after Mansfield Twp. incident

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Mansfield Township teen is facing multiple charges after he allegedly ran over a man Wednesday morning in Mansfield Township.

Jordan D. Cannon, 19, was charged with assault by auto, failure to render aid, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and failure to report an accident.

At 9:45 a.m. police responded to the Mansfield Village Apartments when a female reported that two males were allegedly harassing her boyfriend, police said.

The girlfriend told police that her boyfriend was run over by their vehicle, police said.

The injured person was found bleeding from the head and transported by Mansfield Township rescue squad to Morristown Medical Center, police said.

After a description of the vehicle was provided to police by the girlfriend, a township detective found the vehicle at 11:30 a.m. travelling on Route 57.

After stopping the vehicle, police took Cannon into custody. He was then lodged in the Warren County Jail pending a court appearance.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Team assisted and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
