Hackettstown woman charged with child abuse

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Hackettstown woman was charged with child abuse after an investigation by the Hackettstown Police Department and the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

Anahyde Mejicanos, 22, was charged with fourth-degree child abuse.

On March 6 at around 3:45 p.m., police investigated a report of a child that was struck several times with a belt, police said.

Through a police investigation it was determined that Mejicanos allegedly struck the child on his body several times using a belt, causing visible bruising and injuries, police said.

Authorities did not say what’s the relation between the child and Mejicanos or the age of the victim.

Mejicanos was lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility.
