Hunterdon County barn fire not considered suspicious

WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A barn fire in Whitehouse Station that occurred Friday evening does not appear to be suspicious but remains undetermined pending further investigation, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.

The barn fire occurred on Brookview Road at around 6:40 p.m., Kearns said.

A horse was housed in the barn and was removed uninjured. The barn suffered extensive damage during the fire, Kearns said.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Force, State Fire Marshal and Readington Township Police Department began investigating the fire Friday evening and the investigation is ongoing, Kearns said.

“I want to commend the first responders that faced extreme temperatures while battling the blaze, their bravery and dedication is greatly appreciated,” Kearns said.

The Readington Township Fire Department, Whitehouse Fire Department, East Whitehouse Fire Department, Lebanon Borough Fire Department, Califon Fire Department, Fairmount Fire Department, Quakertown Fire Department, Annandale Fire Department, North Branch Fire Department, Neshanic Fire Department, and Somerset County Rehabilitation Unit assisted at the scene.
