Man found with BB gun, drugs in car

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Massachusetts man was caught with a BB gun and drugs in Mount Olive Township Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Joseph W. Latham, 35, of Wareham was charged with possession of hand gun, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a prescription legend drug.

On Jan. 30, at 12:55 p.m., police responded to the Parkade Shopping Center, located on Route 46, for the report of a suspicious male, police said.

Upon the officers arrival, they located Latham seated in a 2013 Ford van in the area of the Burger King. As the officer was speaking with Latham, he allegedly detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle, police said.

Latham was removed from the vehicle, and a search was conducted. The officer located a Sig Sauer BB gun, several baggies and film canisters containing suspected marijuana, plastic containers containing suspected hashish, a pill bottle containing an escitalopram oxalate pill and two glass pipes containing suspected marijuana residu, police siad.

Latham was lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
