Man sentenced to prison for eluding police

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) –A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to an eluding charge, according to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.

Alexander Sifuentes, 27, of Springfield was sentenced on Friday by the Honorable Angela F. Borkowski, JSC, to five years in state prison.

According to Kearns, Sifuentes was arrested on May 25, 2018 on charges resulting from a vehicular pursuit that occurred on March 4, 2018. The pursuit began on I-78 in Hunterdon County and continued into Jersey City and eventually ended in Hoboken, where Sifuentes was able to avoid police apprehension.

Through a police investigation, New Jersey State Police from the Perryville Station were able to track Sifuentes to the scene of the events, Kearns said.

Sifuentes was indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury on August 2, 2018 and pled guilty to second-degree eluding charge on October 5, 2018.
