NJ man accused of selling TV box filled with speakers

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Union City man is accused of selling a TV and then giving the unsuspecting customer a box of speakers, according to police.

On Jan. 2, Jonathan Kimball, 27, allegedly flagged down the victim in the Walmart parking lot and asked him if he would like to purchase a 50″ flat screen television. The victim negotiated the price to $600.00 and paid Kimball in cash, police said.

The victim opened the box later at home and found it contained a couple of speakers and no television, police said.

Officers used surveillance footage to identify Kimball and a warrant was then issued, police said.

On Feb. 25, Kimball turned himself in to police and was charged with theft by deception and soliciting without a permit.

Kimball was lodged in the Warren County Jail pending a court appearance.
