NJ woman busted after employee smells marijuana coming from car at McDonald’s drive-thru

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Union County woman is facing multiple charges after a McDonald’s employee allegedly smelled marijuana coming from her vehicle at the drive-thru Tuesday afternoon.

Giani Montalvo, 21, of Elizabeth, NJ was charged with driving while under the influence, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of marijuana.

At around 4:38 p.m., police responded to McDonald’s, located at 202 Mountain Ave, in reference to a vehicle that went through the drive-thru to purchase food and an employee detected the odor of marijuana, police said.

When the officer arrived on scene, the officer located the vehicle parked in the parking lot. While the officer was talking to Montalvo, the officer detected the odor of marijuana, police said.

Through an investigation it was determined that Montalvo had in her possession a suspected marijuana cigarette, two bags containing suspected marijuana residue and suspected burnt marijuana cigarettes, police said.

Montalvo was released pending a court appearance.
