Pennsylvania man killed in crash on I-80 in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania man was killed Saturday afternoon following a crash on Interstate 80 in Byram Township, according to State Police Sergeant Jeff Flynn.

The crash happened eastbound at mile maker 22.8 at 1:27 p.m., Flynn said

According to Flynn, an unoccupied Honda Civic was parked on the right shoulder and a Ford F-150 was parked behind the Honda.

As Marc DiRaimo, 53, of Meadville was exiting the Ford, a Nissan, driven by Dioris De Jesus Fermin, 63, ran off the roadway striking the Ford, Flynn said.

DiRaimo sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Saint Clare’s Dover Hospital at 2:15 p.m., Flynn said.

Fermin suffered non life-threatening injuries, Flynn said.

The two right lanes were closed for 4 hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Flynn said.
