Sussex County man killed after tree he was cutting fell on him

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A 64-year-old Lafayette Township man died after a tree fell on him Sunday evening, State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez said.

According to Goez, a neighbor found Stephen Race under a tree at 7:35 p.m. on the 200 block of Beaver Run Road.

Race was using a chainsaw to cut a tree when it fell and killed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Goez said.

His death has been deemed accidental and not suspicious, Goez said.
