Sussex County woman sentenced to jail, pay more than $73K in restitution

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to theft by unlawful taking, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Tami Richardson, 52, of Swartswood was sentenced the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on March 15.

Richardson stole funds from the Swartswood Volunteer Fire Department from 2015 through 2018.

Richardson was sentenced to 210 in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. She must serve two years probation, pay $73,093.50 restitution and $155.00 in court fines and fees. 

Richardson pled guilty on December 5, 2018, to third-degree theft by unlawful taking.
