No Injuries Reported In Byram Twp House Explosion

Byram Twp (Sussex County)- Emergency crews were dispatched at 3:52pm today(4/16/16), to 343 Amity Rd for a report of a brush fire.

The brush fire extended to an exterior propane tank that was attached to the dwelling. The fire then caused the propane tank to explode, according to Byram Twp Fire Chief Todd Rudloff.

Rudloff stated he didn’t know if the house would be habitable.

“Two booms” and “The whole house shook”, one neighbor stated, who lives three houses away from the explosion scene.

There were no injuries reported and the fire is under control, Rudloff said.

Assisting Byram Twp Fire Department at the scene was Andover, Jefferson, Fredon, Hopatcong, Budd Lake, Green Twp, Stanhope, Netcong fire departments, NJ Forest Fire Service, Sussex County Fire Marshal, the Lakeland emergency squad, Byram Twp police, Stanhope police and JCP&L.
