Car Slams Into Hackettstown Home, Narrowly Misses Resident

Hackettstown (Warren County) – Emergency crews responded Friday evening(2/19/16) to a residence on Lawrence Dr for a report of a car vs house crash.

Through a preliminary investigation by police, it was determined that the driver, a 17yro male from Hackettstown, NJ, of a 2014 BMW was travelling west on Lawrence Dr at 9:34PM, when he observed two deer crossing the roadway. The driver then attempted to avoid the deer and then crashed into a house.

When the car crashed into the house, it launched a computer and it nearly missed a male resident who was sitting in the room, according to police.

The Hunterdon County Technical Rescue Task Force responded for shoring the structure. Due to the structural damage, the house was determined to be uninhabitable and the residents have been displaced.

There were no injuries reported.

Hackettstown Police are continuing their investigation and will release more details on Monday.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Fire Department, Hackettstown Fire Police, Hackettstown Rescue Squad, Hackettstown Office of Emergency Management, Hackettstown Municipal Utility Authority, JCP&L and Elizabethtown Gas Company.
