Funeral set for retired Roxbury Twp N.J. cop who died after Police Unity Tour bike crash

LINCOLN PARK, N.J. (Morris County) – Funeral services for Joseph Franklin, retired Roxbury police lieutenant, who died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a bike crash during the Police Unity Tour, will be held next week, police said.

A viewing will be held on Monday, May 16 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street in Lincoln Park.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church located at 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park.

Franklin was critically injured Monday in Far Hills during the first day of the 320-mile bike ride to Washington D.C. in honor of officers killed in the line of duty.

He was taken to Morristown Medical Center following the crash where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Interment will follow at the Gates of Heaven, located at 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, New Jersey.
